Action For Kids Beach Volleyball Championships

The Beach Volleyball Championships is an annual and exciting fundraiser for the national charity, Action for Kids. In 2013, participants managed to raise an astonishing £70,000 while playing beach volleyball in London. This year's event takes place from Monday, 30 June to Friday, 18 July and promises to be three days of fast paced activity, championship tournaments and pay-to-play court fun.

There's a registration fee and/or an appreciated donation for participation. Everyone is invited to attend the event, but sponsors encourage everyone to get in on the action. This is an event that encourages fun while raising much needed funds for disabled children and young people.

Where It's Taking Place and What's On

The Action for Kids Beach Volleyball Championships 2014 will take place across Wood Wharf and Canary Wharf. Located in Tower Hamlets, Canary Wharf is one of the City's main financial centres. Home to numerous worldwide banks, media organizations and services firms, many of them staunch supporters of Action for Kids, a huge turnout is expected. Wood Wharf is on the Isle of Dogs off the River Thames. Home to industries as diversified as sugar processing and ship building, Wood Wharf is expected to bring participants from neighboring burgs like Stepney, Greenwich and Poplar.

Beach volleyball in London will be the game of the day. No one's expected to be a pro. There will be a two hour beach volleyball training course for anyone that wants it. But the rule of the day will be enjoyment. All you need to do is assemble a team of at least five and no more than 12 registered players ready to raise lots of money for the kids. The only requirement of any team is that there be at least one member of each gender playing at all times.

Besides an afternoon of action and beach volleyball in London, every team can look forward to a goodie bag filled with surprises, lunch and a meet with top UK athletes. There will also be exciting events like the SideOut Invitational Tournament, featuring some of the top players in the country.

It's believed this year's event will be as fruitful and adventurous as ever. And as always the real winners will be the children and young people who will learn to see past physical and learning disabilities to find a greater sense of opportunity and independence through Action for Kids' programmes, education, and provision of mobility aids and support.

Get down to Canary Wharf between the 30 June to Friday, 18 July and support a great cause!
